Improving Working Practices. Stoke on Trent City Council

Scrutiny of demand, purpose & efficient flow of service delivery has resulted in savings.

Action Taken

Savings were made by carrying out numerous efficiency reviews across the whole of the Highways & Transportation Group, looking at demand, purpose, and efficiency in the flow of service delivery.

Results and Benefits

Alternative ways of working have been put in place that has reduced waste and duplication within processes to enable financial and efficiency savings to be made. New technology is being utilised to enable improved management of processes and data sharing. Workforce reorganisations have taken place to ensure that there are sufficient resources in areas of high demand to enable customer expectations to be met.

Note from City of Stoke-on-Trent Council:
It is not possible to calculate the level or percentage of savings achieved as they were made across a much wider remit of responsibilities than carriageways.
